This series consists of one register relating to the admission of children into Dundas House during 1969-1974. Five loose pages of handwritten notes at the front of the register relating to client files and birth dates cover the period 1972-1983. Inside the register, page nos 2-233 contain entries for each child in numerical order and include the following information columns; number, name, age (or date of birth), sex, date child was admitted to Dundas House, date child was discharged from Dundas House, Child admitted at the request of (agency name or Welfare Officer), and general remarks. The general remarks column was used to identify children who were to be adopted, and/or parents' names, and/or the home address of the child, and/or where the child was sent to (e.g. home, hospital, foster parent, or another Welfare Home). There are annotations relating to children who were evacuated from Darwin after Cyclone Tracy, or transferred to their parent's custody, or admitted to hospital (page nos 231-233). The remaining pages of the register (pages nos 234-252) are blank. The register is fragile from constant use and handling and there are loose, damaged pages. Some language used in these records (which reflects the language used at the time the records were created) may be offensive. This series may contain references to Aboriginal people who have died, which may cause sadness and distress to their relatives. No offence has been intended by making these records available. Care and discretion should be used when viewing these records.
